Trailokya-mohinī-vidyā: Śrīdhara-Mantras, Ritual Arrangement, and Viṣvaksena Dhyāna
शरं पाशं चाङ्कुशं च लक्ष्मीगरुडसंयुतम् / विष्वक्सेनं विस्तराद्वानरः सर्वमवाप्नुयात्
śaraṃ pāśaṃ cāṅkuśaṃ ca lakṣmīgaruḍasaṃyutam / viṣvaksenaṃ vistarādvānaraḥ sarvamavāpnuyāt
Lord Vishnu (in instruction to Garuda)
Concept: Dhyāna on Viṣṇu’s parivāra (especially Viṣvaksena as guardian/commander) grants siddhi-like ‘attainment of all’ through grace and removal of obstacles.
Vedantic Theme: Grace (anugraha) operating through saguṇa-upāsanā; obstacles dissolve when mind aligns with īśvara’s order.
Application: In pūjā/dhyāna, visualize Viṣvaksena with his attributes (śara, pāśa, aṅkuśa) and with Lakṣmī-Garuḍa; use it as an obstacle-removal and protection practice before main worship.
Primary Rasa: adbhuta
Secondary Rasa: shanta
Type: inner shrine/meditation space
Related Themes: Garuda Purana 1.30 (pūjā procedure and nyāsa support this visualization practice)
This verse presents Viṣvaksena as a powerful Vaishnava protective presence; detailed meditation on him—together with Lakṣmī and Garuḍa—is said to grant comprehensive attainment (sarvam).
Rather than describing post-death travel directly, it emphasizes upāsanā (devotional visualization) as a means to remove obstacles and secure divine protection—supporting the soul’s auspicious course through life and beyond.
Adopt a disciplined practice of focused remembrance/meditation on Viṣṇu’s protective entourage (Viṣvaksena with Lakṣmī and Garuḍa) to cultivate steadiness, remove impediments, and align actions with dharma.
