This verse emphasizes that bathing, wearing clean un-torn clothing, and washing hands with earth and water are prerequisites for performing sacred duties properly, including rites connected with the departed.
It sets the external purification protocol—clean body, clean clothing, and cleansed hands—commonly required before offerings and ritual actions so that the rite is performed in a state of śauca (purity).
Before any prayer, memorial rite, or disciplined spiritual practice, maintain cleanliness: bathe when possible, wear clean clothes, and wash hands thoroughly—treating purity as a support for mindful, respectful action.
