FAQs

This verse frames the text’s authority by presenting Viṣṇu’s assent to Garuḍa’s request/statement about compiling and transmitting the Purāṇic compendium, grounding the teaching in a divine dialogue.

It does not describe afterlife mechanics directly; instead, it establishes the narrative setting—Viṣṇu confirming that the teachings Garuḍa seeks (including later discussions on death rites and the soul’s journey) will be delivered as stated.

Treat the Garuḍa Purāṇa’s guidance as a disciplined transmission: study carefully, preserve accuracy in recitation/teaching, and apply its ethical instructions with fidelity rather than improvisation.
