Lord Viṣṇu (in instruction to Garuḍa)
Concept: Correct mantra sequencing (krama) is itself dharma in ritual action; remembrance and fidelity to śruti-patterns sustain efficacy.
Vedantic Theme: Discipline of speech (vak-samyama) and attention (ekagrata) as purifying supports; śabda-pramana honored in practice.
Application: Recite the listed mantras in the stated order during the rite, treating each as a distinct unit rather than mixing or omitting.
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: adbhuta
Type: homa setting with recitation sequence
Related Themes: Garuda Purana 1.101.7 (preceding mantra set); Garuda Purana 1.101.9 (samidh sequence supporting the same homa)
This verse emphasizes that specific mantras are to be recited in a fixed sequence; correct krama is treated as part of ritual correctness (ācāra) and is linked with auspicious, intended results.
While this verse is primarily procedural (mantra-krama) rather than descriptive of Yama’s realm, it supports the broader Garuda Purana emphasis that rites—often including śānti and related recitations—must be performed precisely to be effective.
When performing any traditional rite (śrāddha, śānti, pūjā), follow an authenticated liturgical order from a reliable source or priest; avoid random or improvised sequencing of mantras.
