एतत् पुरन्दरो ज्ञात्वा सप्तमेऽस्मिन् किलान्तरे । तपोविशङ्कितो ब्रह्मन्नारेभे तद्विघातनम् ॥ १५ ॥

Transliteration

etat purandaro jñātvā saptame ’smin kilāntare tapo-viśaṅkito brahmann ārebhe tad-vighātanam

Translation

ఓ బ్రాహ్మణా! ఈ ఏడవ మన్వంతరమైన ప్రస్తుత కాలంలో పురందరుడైన ఇంద్రుడు మార్కండేయుని తపస్సును తెలిసి భయపడి, దానిని భంగపరచుటకు ప్రయత్నించాడు।
