Akrūra in Hastināpura: Kuntī’s Lament and Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s Moral Instruction
śaśaṁsa rāma-kṛṣṇābhyāṁ dhṛtarāṣṭra-viceṣṭitam pāṇdavān prati kauravya yad-arthaṁ preṣitaḥ svayam
Thus end the purports of the humble servants of His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupāda to the Tenth Canto, Forty-ninth Chapter, of the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam, entitled “Akrūra’s Mission in Hastināpura.”
This verse notes that Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s maneuvers and intentions toward the Pāṇḍavas were reported to Rāma and Kṛṣṇa, highlighting the ongoing political plotting surrounding the Pāṇḍavas.
The verse indicates he was sent with a specific purpose connected to Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s plans; the narrative context portrays it as part of Kaurava-state diplomacy and strategy concerning the Pāṇḍavas.
Even amid manipulation and power-struggles, one should seek truthful counsel, understand motives clearly, and remain aligned with dharma—taking shelter of the Lord’s guidance rather than reacting impulsively.
