Yoga-māyā Appears as Durgā; Kaṁsa’s Repentance and the Demonic Policy of Persecuting Vaiṣṇavas

Kaṁsa was very anxiously waiting because of the prophecy that the eighth child of Devakī would kill him. This time, naturally, he was awake and waiting, and when the watchmen approached him, he immediately took action to kill the child.
This verse states that Kaṁsa was already disturbed and anxiously waiting for news of Devakī’s delivery, showing how fear and adharma intensify as the Lord’s appearance approaches.
Because of the prophecy that Devakī’s child would be the cause of his death, Kaṁsa monitored each birth and demanded immediate reports.
A mind driven by fear and obsession loses peace; Bhagavatam contrasts this with the steadiness gained through devotion and surrender to the Supreme.
