Bali Mahārāja’s Empowerment and Conquest of Indra’s City
Prelude to Vāmana’s Petition
taṁ brāhmaṇā bhṛgavaḥ prīyamāṇā ayājayan viśvajitā tri-ṇākam jigīṣamāṇaṁ vidhinābhiṣicya mahābhiṣekeṇa mahānubhāvāḥ
In this verse, the Viśvajit sacrifice is performed for Bali so he may gain victory and power to conquer, showing how Vedic yajñas were used to invoke success under brāhmaṇical guidance.
Because they were pleased with Bali and, following Vedic injunctions, they formally consecrated him so he could pursue conquest and kingship with ritual legitimacy and spiritual sanction.
It highlights the principle of acting with proper guidance, discipline, and sacred integrity—seeking qualified counsel and following right procedures before undertaking major goals.
