Vyāsa’s Veda-division and Ṛgveda lineages

ஞானமிகு வேதவ்யாசர் ஜைமினியை சாமவேதத்தின் முதல்வராக நியமித்தார்; அதுபோல அதர்வவேதத்தை அறிந்த சுமந்துவும் அவரது சீடனானார்.
Sage Parāśara (narrating to Maitreya)
This verse places Jaimini in the Vedic succession as the authority entrusted with the Sāma Veda, showing how Vyāsa ensured the preservation and orderly transmission of śruti.
Parāśara describes a structured disciplic chain: Vyāsa assigns specific Vedic branches to qualified disciples, safeguarding the integrity of revelation through lineage rather than chance.
Even when Vishnu is not named in the verse, the Purāṇic frame treats the Vedas and their transmission as part of dharma that upholds cosmic sovereignty—ultimately grounded in Vishnu as the sustaining Supreme Reality.
