Tara’s Lament over Vāli
इषुणाऽभिहतं दृष्ट्वा वालिनं कुञ्जरोपमम्4.20.2।।वानरेन्द्र महेन्द्राभं शोकसन्तप्तमानसा।तारा तरुमिवोन्मूलं पर्यदेवयदातुरा4.20.3।।
iṣuṇā ’bhihataṃ dṛṣṭvā vālinam kuñjaropamam |
vānarendraṃ mahendrābhaṃ śokasantaptamānasā |
tārā tarum ivonmūlaṃ paryadevayad āturā ||
அம்பால் காயமுற்ற வானரேந்திரன் வாலியை—யானைபோல் வலிமைமிக்கவன், மகேந்திரன் போல் ஒளிவீசுபவன்—வேர் பிடுங்கிய மரம்போல் விழுந்து கிடப்பதைக் கண்டு, சோகத்தால் சுடும் மனத்துடன் தாரை பதறி உருக்கமான புலம்பல் செய்தாள்।
(Turning to Angada Tara said) 'O son, look at your father, a lover of dharma. See him, as it will be difficult to see him later, dear'.
