दृष्ट्वैवाभ्यागतं त्वां मे मैथिलीं त्यज्य लक्ष्मण।शङ्कमानं महत्पापं यत्सत्यं व्यथितं मनः।।।।

dṛṣṭvaivābhyāgataṃ tvāṃ me maithilīṃ tyajya lakṣmaṇa |

śaṅkamānaṃ mahat pāpaṃ yat satyaṃ vyathitaṃ manaḥ ||

Translation

லட்சுமணா! மைதிலியை விட்டுவிட்டு நீ திரும்பி வந்ததை கண்டவுடனே, என் மனம் பெரும் பாவத்தின் அச்சத்தால் நடுங்கியது; அந்த அச்சம் உண்மையாய், என் உள்ளம் வேதனைப்பட்டது.
