मारीचवधोत्तरं रामस्य शङ्का-निमित्त-दर्शनं लक्ष्मण-निग्रहश्च

स तस्य स्वरमाज्ञाय दारुणं रोमहर्षणम्।चिन्तयामास गोमायोस्स्वरेण परिशङ्कितः।।।।
sa tasya svaram ājñāya dāruṇaṃ romaharṣaṇam |
cintayāmāsa gomāyos svareṇa pariśaṅkitaḥ ||
அந்த நரியின் பயங்கரமான, மெய்சிலிர்க்கச் செய்யும் ஒலியை உணர்ந்த ராமன் அச்சமடைந்து, மனத்தில் கவலையுடன் சிந்திக்கத் தொடங்கினான்.
O gentle Lakshmana! you are to blame for coming here, leaving Sita behind. Alas! will she be safe now?
