Yama-vilāpana
The Lamentation Concerning Yama
yayā rukmāṃgado jāto mallipemarjjanāya vai | nedaṃ vyavasthitaṃ deva kṣitau kenāpi bhūbhujā || 15 ||
Narrator (Purāṇic dialogue frame; attributed within the Narada Purana’s Uttara-Bhaga discourse tradition)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: adbhuta
Secondary Rasa: bhakti
It emphasizes daiva-vidhāna—events like the birth of a righteous figure are portrayed as divinely purposed for purification and restoration of dharma, beyond merely human political planning.
By presenting purification as divinely guided, the verse supports a bhakti-oriented outlook: surrender to the Lord’s higher arrangement and trust that dharmic outcomes unfold through divine will rather than human control alone.
No direct Vedāṅga (like Vyākaraṇa, Jyotiṣa, or Kalpa) instruction appears; the practical takeaway is the Purāṇic dharma principle that purification (śuddhi/marjana) is a key aim of sacred narratives and tirtha-oriented practice.
