The Greatness of Gayā
Gayā-Māhātmya
tatra cihnaṃ mahābhāge adyāpi mahadadbhutam | kapilā saha vatsena parvate vicaratyuta || 70 ||
Narada
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: adbhuta
Secondary Rasa: bhakti
It presents a living “cihna” (sacred sign) that validates the tirtha’s enduring sanctity—miracle is shown not as spectacle, but as continuity of holiness in a place.
By pointing to a tangible, present sign at a sacred site, the text nurtures śraddhā (faith) and remembrance—key supports for bhakti through pilgrimage, darśana, and reverent attention.
No specific Vedāṅga doctrine is taught in this line; it functions primarily as tirtha-mahātmya evidence (a narrative marker used to authenticate sacred geography and pilgrimage practice).
