न भक्षयामि मांसानि ऋतुगामी तथा हाहम् । सदोपवासी च तथा नक्तभोजी सदा द्विज,मैं स्वयं मांस कभी नहीं खाता। ऋतुकाल प्राप्त होनेपर ही पत्नी-समागम करता हूँ। द्विजप्रवर। मैं दिनमें सदा ही उपवास और रातमें भोजन करता हूँ
na bhakṣayāmi māṁsāni ṛtugāmī tathā hy aham | sadopavāsī ca tathā naktabhojī sadā dvija ||
இருபிறப்பில் சிறந்தவரே! நான் ஒருபோதும் இறைச்சி உண்ணேன். உரிய காலம் வந்தாலே மனைவியுடன் சேர்வேன். பகலில் எப்போதும் உபவாசமிருந்து, இரவில் மட்டுமே உண்பேன்।
