वामदेव उवाच यत् त्वमेनं सायकं घोररूपं विषेण दिग्ध॑ मम संदधासि | न त्वेतं त्वं शरवर्ष विमोक्तुं संधातुं वा शक््यसे मानवेन्द्र,वामदेवजीने कहा--नरेश्वर! तुम विषके बुझाये हुए इस विकराल बाणको मुझे मारनेके लिये धनुषपर चढ़ा रहे हो, परंतु मैं कहे देता हूँ “इस बाणको न तो तुम धनुषपर रख सकोगे और न छोड़ ही सकोगे'
Vāmadeva uvāca: yat tvam enaṃ sāyakaṃ ghorarūpaṃ viṣeṇa digdhaṃ mama sandadhāsi | na tv etaṃ tvaṃ śaravarṣa vimoktuṃ sandhātuṃ vā śakyase mānavendra ||
வாமதேவர் கூறினார்—மனிதருள் அரசே! விஷம் பூசப்பட்ட இந்தக் கொடிய அம்பை என்னை நோக்கி வில்லில் பொருத்துகிறாய்; ஆனால் அறிந்துகொள்—நீ இதைச் சரியாகச் செருகவும் முடியாது, அம்புமழையாய் விடவும் முடியாது।
