अकृतव्रण उवाच
As a chapter-colophon, the verse signals closure and frames the preceding story as moral instruction within a pilgrimage context: sacred travel is paired with reflection on dharma, and the narrative warns that unchecked power and adharma culminate in destructive outcomes.
The verse is not part of the spoken dialogue but a formal colophon stating that the chapter has concluded: within Vana Parva’s Tīrthayātrā section, during Lomaśa’s pilgrimage narration, the Kārtavīrya episode has reached the point of Jamadagni’s slaying, and this is chapter 116.
