Pātāla-varṇana (Nārada’s Description of the Netherworld) / पातालवर्णनम्
भवन वारुणं पश्य यदेतत् सर्वकाउ्चनम् । यत् प्राप्य सुरतां प्राप्ता: सुरा: सुरपते: सखे,महेन्द्रमित्र! देखो, यह वरुणदेवताका भवन है, जो सब ओरसे सुवर्णका ही बना हुआ है। यहाँ पहुँचकर ही देवगण वास्तवमें देवत्वलाभ करते हैं
bhavan vāruṇaṁ paśya yad etat sarva-kāñcanam | yat prāpya suratāṁ prāptāḥ surāḥ surapateḥ sakhe, mahendra-mitra |
மகேந்திரனின் நண்பனே! பார், இது வருணதேவனின் மாளிகை—எல்லாத் திசைகளிலும் பொன்னால் ஆனது. தேவர்களின் அதிபதியின் தோழனே, இங்கு வந்தடைந்தபின்பே தேவர்கள் உண்மையில் தெய்வநிலையை அடைகிறார்கள்.
