Educational Q&A

The verse highlights the ethical dimension of political and martial duty: when a just cause is formally undertaken, leaders and pledged allies are expected to respond to rightful summons, embodying kṣatriya-dharma through disciplined mobilization and solidarity.

A set of prominent allies—Virāṭa, Drupada, Sātyaki, Śikhaṇḍin, and the Pāñcāla champions Yudhāmanyu and Uttamaujā—are being named as receiving the king’s command, indicating organized preparation and mustering of forces for the coming conflict.
