जामदग्न्येन मे युद्धमिदं परमदारुणम् | अहानि च बहुन्यद्य वर्तते सुमहात्ययम्,आज बहुत दिन हो गये, जमदग्निनन्दन परशुरामजीके साथ यह मेरा अत्यन्त भयंकर और महान् अनिष्टकारक युद्ध चल रहा है
jāmadagnyena me yuddham idaṃ paramadāruṇam | ahāni ca bahūny adya vartate sumahātyayam ||
பீஷ்மன் கூறினான்— ஜாமதக்ன்யன் பரசுராமனுடன் எனக்குள்ள இந்தப் போர் மிகக் கொடுமையானது. பல நாட்கள் கடந்தும் இன்றும் அது தொடர்கிறது—மிகப் பெரிய பேரழிவை உண்டாக்குகிறது.
