अम्बोपाख्याने तापसानां विचारः तथा होत्रवाहनस्य उपदेशः

अथवा पितरं मूढं यो मे5कार्षीत्‌ स्वयंवरम्‌ । मयायं स्वकृतो दोषो याहं भीष्मरथात्‌ तदा

athavā pitaraṁ mūḍhaṁ yo me ’kārṣīt svayaṁvaram | mayāyaṁ svakṛto doṣo yāhaṁ bhīṣmarathāt tadā

அல்லது எனக்காக சுயம்வரத்தை ஏற்பாடு செய்த என் மயக்கமுற்ற தந்தையை நான் தடுத்திருக்க வேண்டும். இந்தக் குற்றம் எனது சொந்தச் செயல்—நான், பீஷ்மன், அப்போது ரதத்திலிருந்தே அப்படிச் செய்து இந்த அநீதியை உண்டாக்கினேன்.
