Educational Q&A

The verse emphasizes buddhi—deliberate, ethically informed judgment—especially in forming family alliances. Choosing a son-in-law is presented as a responsible decision grounded in consideration of lineage, suitability, and social duty.

Kaṇva reports Mātali’s statement: Mātali has reflected on the situation and declares that Sumukha, the king’s grandson, has been selected to become his son-in-law, indicating a formal move toward arranging a marriage alliance.
