तदर्थ पादशेषं वा वित्तशाव्यविवर्जितम्‌ । यद्‌ यदेवात्मनो<भीष्टं तत्‌ तद्‌ देयं द्विजातये

Transliteration

tadarthaṃ pādaśeṣaṃ vā vittāśāvyavivarjitam | yad yad evātmano 'bhīṣṭaṃ tat tad deyaṃ dvijātaye ||

Translation

முழு அளவு வழங்க இயலாவிட்டால், மீதமுள்ள பங்கையாவது அளிக்க வேண்டும்—செல்வம் இருக்கையில் கஞ்சத்தனம் கலக்கக் கூடாது. தமக்குப் பிரியமான பொருட்களையே இருபிறப்பாளருக்கு (பிராமணருக்கு) தானமாக அளிக்க வேண்டும்.
