अविलम्बमनायस्तमद्रुतं धीरमूर्जितम् । असंसक्ताक्षरपदं स्वरभावसमन्वितम्
avilambam anāyastam adrutaṃ dhīram ūrjitam | asaṃsaktākṣarapadaṃ svarabhāvasamanvitam ||
கதையைச் சொல்லுதல் மிகத் தாமதமாகவும் அல்ல, மிக வேகமாகவும் அல்ல. அது இயல்பாக, நிலைத்த மனத்துடன், வலிமையோடு செல்ல வேண்டும்; எழுத்தும் சொல்லும் ஒன்றோடொன்று ஒட்டிக் கலக்காமல் தெளிவாக உச்சரிக்கப்பட வேண்டும்; குரலும் உணர்வும் ஒத்திசைய வேண்டும்— அப்பொழுது பொருள் இனிமையாக வெளிப்படும்.
