Book 12, Chapter 93 — Vāmadeva’s Counsel to King Vasumanā on Dharmic Kingship (धर्मप्रधान-राजधर्मोपदेशः)
अथ मानयितुर्दाम्न: श्लक्षणस्य वशवर्तिन: । व्यसन स्वमिवोत्पन्नं विजिघांसन्ति मानवा:
atha mānayitur dāmnaḥ ślakṣṇasya vaśavartinaḥ | vyasanaṃ svam ivotpannaṃ vijighāṃsanti mānavāḥ ||
எல்லோரையும் மதிப்பவன், தானம் செய்பவன், மென்மையான நடத்தை உடையவன், பிறரைக் கருத்தில் கொண்டு அவர்களுக்கேற்ப நடப்பவன்—அவனுக்கு ஏதேனும் துன்பம் வந்தால், மக்கள் அதைத் தங்களுடைய துன்பமெனக் கருதி அதை நீக்க முயல்வார்கள்.
