Yudhiṣṭhira’s Lament for Karṇa and Renunciation-Oriented Self-Assessment (शोक-प्रलापः / त्याग-प्रवृत्तिः)
उपवासैस्तथेज्याभिव्रतकौतुकमड़लै: । लभन्ते मातरो गर्भान् मासान् दश च बिशभ्रति
yudhiṣṭhira uvāca | upavāsais tathejābhir vratakautukamaṅgalaiḥ | labhante mātaro garbhān māsān daśa ca bibhrati | iha cāmutra caiveti kṛpaṇāḥ phalahetavaḥ |
யுதிஷ்டிரன் கூறினான்—உபவாசம், யாகம், விரதம், கௌதுகம் மற்றும் மங்களச் சடங்குகள் மூலம் தாய்மார் கருவுறுதலை நாடி, பத்து மாதங்கள் கருப்பையைத் தாங்கி வளர்க்கின்றனர். ‘இவ்வுலகிலும் மறுவுலகிலும்’ என்று எண்ணி, அந்த ஏழை பெண்கள் பலனை நோக்கியே செயற்படுகின்றனர்.
