त्रेतायुगादौ च ततो विवस्वान् मनवे ददौ । मनुश्न लोकभूत्यर्थ सुतायेक्ष्वाकवे ददौ,फिर त्रेतायुगके आरम्भमें सूर्यने मनुको और मनुने सम्पूर्ण जगत्के कल्याणके लिये अपने पुत्र इक्ष्वाकुको इसका उपदेश दिया
tretāyugādau ca tato vivasvān manave dadau | manuś ca lokabhūtyarthaṁ sutāyekṣvākave dadau ||
வைசம்பாயனர் கூறினார்—பின்னர் திரேதாயுகத்தின் தொடக்கத்தில் விவஸ்வான் (சூரியன்) இந்த உபதேசத்தை மனுவுக்கு அளித்தான்; மனுவும் உலகமெங்கும் நலன் விளைய வேண்டி தன் மகன் இக்ஷ்வாகுவுக்கு அதை போதித்தான்।
