पितामहाय शुद्धाय युगादौ लोकधारिणे । पितामहश्न दक्षाय धर्ममेतं पुरा ददौ

Transliteration

vaiśampāyana uvāca |

pitāmahāya śuddhāya yugādau lokadhāriṇe |

pitāmahaś ca dakṣāya dharmam etaṃ purā dadau, nareśvara ||

Translation

வைசம்பாயனர் கூறினார்—மன்னரே! யுகத்தின் தொடக்கத்தில் உலகங்களைத் தாங்கும் தூய பிதாமகன் பிரம்மாவுக்கு நாராயணன் இந்த தர்மத்தை அளித்தான். பின்னர் பழங்காலத்தில் அந்தப் பிதாமகனே இதே தர்மத்தை தக்ஷனுக்கு வழங்கினான்—இவ்வாறு தர்மத்தின் புனித பரம்பரை நிலைபெற்றது.
