Puruṣaikatva-vyākhyāna: The One Virāṭ Puruṣa and the Many ‘Puruṣas’

ऋषय ऊचु: बीजैर्यज्ञिषु यष्टव्यमिति वै वैदिकी श्रुति: । अजरसंज्ञानि बीजानि च्छागं नो हन्तुमर्हथ
ṛṣaya ūcuḥ—bījair yajñeṣu yaṣṭavyam iti vai vaidikī śrutiḥ | ajarasaṃjñāni bījāni chāgaṃ no hantum arhatha ||
ரிஷிகள் கூறினர்—தேவர்களே! வேதச் ச்ருதி யாகங்களில் விதைகள் (தானியங்கள்) மூலம் யாகம் செய்ய வேண்டும் என்று கூறுகிறது. விதைகளுக்கே ‘அஜ’ என்ற பெயர் உண்டு; ஆகவே ஆட்டை கொல்லுமாறு எங்களை வற்புறுத்துவது முறையல்ல. ச்ருதியின் உண்மையான நோக்கத்தின்படி அஹிம்சையுடன் யாகம் நிறைவேறட்டும்.
