वाचो वेगं मनस: क्रोधवेगं विधित्सावेगमुदरोपस्थवेगम्‌ | एतान्‌ वेगान्‌ यो विषहेदुदीर्णा- स्तं मन्येडहं ब्राह्म॒णं वै मुनिं च

vāco vegaṁ manasaḥ krodha-vegaṁ vidhitsā-vegam udaropastha-vegam | etān vegān yo viṣahed udīrṇās taṁ manye ’haṁ brāhmaṇaṁ vai muniṁ ca ||

ஹம்ஸன் கூறினான்—பேச்சின் வேகம், மனத்தின் வேகம், கோபத்தின் வேகம், சாதிக்கவேண்டும் என்ற ஆசையின் வேகம், வயிற்றின் வேகம், உபஸ்தம் (காமேந்திரியம்) எனும் வேகம்—இந்த எழும் உந்துதல்களை யார் தாங்கி அடக்க வல்லாரோ, அவரையே நான் உண்மையான பிராமணனாகவும் முனிவனாகவும் கருதுகிறேன்.
