Adhyāya 270 — Yudhiṣṭhira’s inquiry on saṃnyāsa; Bhīṣma on calculable time, tamas, and karma
Vṛtra–Uśanā exemplum begins
कामलोभानुबन्धेन पुरा ते यदसूयितम् । मया स्नेहमविज्ञाय तत्र मे क्षन्तुमहसि
kāmalobhānubandhena purā te yad asūyitam | mayā sneham avijñāya tatra me kṣantum arhasi ||
பீஷ்மர் கூறினார்—முன்பு காமமும் பேராசையும் என்னைச் சூழ்ந்ததால், உன்னை நோக்கி நான் பொறாமையுடன் பேசிய சொற்களில் இருந்த அன்பை அறியாமல் தவறினேன்; அந்தக் குற்றத்திற்காக நீ என்னை மன்னிக்க வேண்டும்.
