अहिंसा-प्रधान धर्मविचारः

अधर्मो नास्ति ते मृत्यो संयच्छेमा: प्रजा: शुभे | मया हाक्त मृषा भद्रे भविता नेह किंचन
adharmo nāsti te mṛtyo saṁyacchemāḥ prajāḥ śubhe | mayā hy uktaṁ mṛṣā bhadre bhavitā neha kiṁcana ||
பீஷ்மர் கூறினார்— “ஓ மரணமே! உனக்கு அதர்மம் சேராது. ஓ சுபே! இப் பிரஜைகளை அடக்கி நிறுத்து. ஓ பத்ரே! இங்கே நான் சொன்ன எந்த வார்த்தையும் ஒருபோதும் பொய்யாகாது.”
