Ātma-saṃyama-dharma: One-pointedness of Mind and Senses (शुक–व्यास संवादः)
लोक वृत्तान्ततत्त्वज्ञ: पूतो5हं गुरुशासनात् । कृत्वा बुद्धि विमुक्तात्मा द्रक्ष्याम्पात्मानमव्ययम्,मैं आप-जैसे गुरुके उपदेशसे पवित्र हो गया हूँ तथा मुझे जगतके वृत्तान्त (लौकिक नीति-रीति) का भी ज्ञान हो गया है; अतः धर्माचरणसे बुद्धिका संस्कार करके स्थूल देहका अभिमान त्यागकर अपने अविनाशीस्वरूप परमात्माका दर्शन करूँगा
loka-vṛttānta-tattvajñaḥ pūto 'haṃ guru-śāsanāt | kṛtvā buddhiṃ vimuktātmā drakṣyāmy ātmānam avyayam ||
உம்மைப் போன்ற குருவின் உபதேசத்தால் நான் தூய்மையடைந்தேன்; உலக நடத்தை-முறைகளின் தத்துவத்தையும் அறிந்தேன். ஆகவே தர்ம ஒழுக்கத்தால் புத்தியைப் பக்குவப்படுத்தி, ஸ்தூல தேகப் பற்றைத் துறந்து, என் அழியாத ஆத்மஸ்வரூபத்தை நான் தரிசிப்பேன்।
