कथं सृष्टानि भूतानि कथ॑ं वर्णविभक्तय: । शौचाशौचं कथं तेषां धर्माधर्मविधि: कथम्
yudhiṣṭhira uvāca | kathaṃ sṛṣṭāni bhūtāni kathaṃ varṇa-vibhaktayaḥ | śaucāśaucaṃ kathaṃ teṣāṃ dharmādharmavidhiḥ katham |
உயிர்கள் எவ்வாறு படைக்கப்பட்டன? வர்ணப் பிரிவு எவ்வாறு நிறுவப்பட்டது? அவர்களிடையே சௌசம்-அசௌசம் (தூய்மை-அதூய்மை) எவ்வாறு நிர்ணயிக்கப்பட்டது? மேலும் தர்மம்-அதர்மம் பற்றிய விதிகள் எவ்வாறு வகுக்கப்பட்டன?
