निर्वेदोपदेशः (Nirveda-Upadeśa) — Maṅki’s Dispassion and the Limits of Wealth-Seeking
ते तमूचुर्महाराज राजप्रेष्यास्तदा द्विजम् । त्वरस्व तूर्णमागच्छ राजा त्वां द्रष्टमिच्छति
te tam ūcur mahārāja rājapreṣyās tadā dvijam | tvarasva tūrṇam āgaccha rājā tvāṁ draṣṭum icchati ||
அப்போது, மன்னரே, அரசுத் தூதர்கள் அந்தப் பிராமணனை நோக்கி—“பிராமணரே! விரைந்து வாரும்; அரசன் உம்மைச் சந்திக்க விரும்புகிறான்” என்று கூறினர்.
भीष्म उवाच
The verse highlights the ethical seriousness of royal summons and the expectation of prompt, responsible response—especially when a learned person is called, since counsel and conduct around kingship directly affect dharma and public welfare.
Bhīṣma narrates that the king’s messengers approach a brahmin and urgently instruct him to come at once because the king wants to meet him.
