नविश्वसेदविश्वस्ते विश्वस्ते नातिविश्वसेत् विश्वासाद् भयमभ्येति नापरीक्ष्य च विश्वसेद्
na viśvased aviśvaste viśvaste nātiviśvaset | viśvāsād bhayam abhyeti nāparīkṣya ca viśvaset ||
பீஷ்மர் கூறினார்—நம்பத் தகாதவரை நம்பாதே; நம்பத் தகுதியுள்ளவரையும் அளவுக்கு மீறி நம்பாதே. மிகை நம்பிக்கையிலிருந்து அச்சமும் ஆபத்தும் எழும்; ஆகவே சோதித்து அறியாமல் எவரையும் நம்பாதே.
