Educational Q&A

Bhīṣma urges the king to cultivate inner steadiness—abandoning wavering hope and desire—and to remain firm in dharma, like an immovable mountain amid changing circumstances.

In the Śānti Parva’s instruction section, Bhīṣma addresses Yudhiṣṭhira (Kaunteya) and concludes a piece of counsel by exhorting him to accept the teaching and become resolute and unshaken, using the Himālaya as a model of stability.
