Gratitude, Discernment, and the Escalation of Power (Śvā–Dvipī–Vyāghra–Nāga–Siṃha–Śarabha Itihāsa)

भक्तो<नुरक्त: सततमुपवासकृशोडबल: । फलमूलोदकाहार: शान्त: शिष्टाकृतिर्यथा

bhakto 'nuraktaḥ satatam upavāsa-kṛśo 'balāḥ | phala-mūlodakāhāraḥ śāntaḥ śiṣṭākṛtir yathā ||

பீஷ்மர் கூறினார்—அவன் அந்த மகாமுனிக்குப் பக்தனாய், எப்போதும் அன்புடன் பற்றுடையவனாய் இருந்தான். நோன்பினால் மெலிந்து பலவீனமடைந்தான். பழம்‑வேர்‑நீர் மட்டுமே உணவாகக் கொண்டு, மனத்தை அடக்கி, அமைதியுடன், சான்றோர் போல ஒழுக்கமுடன் வாழ்ந்தான்.
