जनकस्य युद्धोपदेशः — Janaka’s Instruction on Steadfast Battle-Conduct
इस प्रकार श्रीमह्याभारत शान्तिपर्वके अन्तर्गत राजधमनुशासनपर्वमें इन्द्र और अम्बरीषका संवादविषयक अद्दानबेवाँ अध्याय पूरा हुआ ॥/ ९८ ॥ (दाक्षिणत्य अधिक पाठके २३६ शलोक मिलाकर कुछ ७४ ३ “लोक हैं) नजीब न (0) आज अन+- नवनवतितमो< ध्याय: शूरवीरोंको स्वर्ग और कायरोंको नरककी प्राप्तिके विषयमें मिथिलेश्वर जनकका इतिहास भीष्म उवाच अत्राप्युदाहरन्तीममितिहासं पुरातनम् । प्रतर्दनो मैथिलश्न संग्रामं यत्र चक्रतु:
bhīṣma uvāca |
atrāpy udāharantīmam itihāsaṁ purātanam |
pratardano maithilaś ca saṅgrāmaṁ yatra cakratuḥ ||
பீஷ்மர் கூறினார்—அரசே, இவ்விஷயத்திலும் அறிஞர்கள் ஒரு பழம்பெரும் வரலாற்று உதாரணத்தைச் சொல்கிறார்கள். ஒருகாலத்தில் பிரதர்தனனும் மிதிலையின் அதிபதி ஜனகனும் ஒருவரையொருவர் எதிர்த்து போரிட்டனர் என்பதே அது.
