कारणं नाधिगच्छामि कथंचिदपि चिन्तयन् | मेरा विश्वास है कि कर्णके दोनों पैर माता कुन्तीके चरणोंके सदृश थे। कुन्ती और कर्णके पैरोंमें इतनी समानता क्यों है? इसका कारण ढूँढ़ता हुआ मैं बहुत सोचता-विचारता; परंतु किसी तरह कोई कारण नहीं समझ पाता था

எவ்வாறு சிந்தித்தாலும் காரணத்தை நான் கண்டுபிடிக்க முடியவில்லை. கர்ணனின் இரு பாதங்களும் தாய் குந்தியின் பாதங்களைப் போன்றவை என்ற நம்பிக்கை எனக்கு உண்டு. குந்தி மற்றும் கர்ணனின் பாதங்களில் இத்தனை ஒற்றுமை ஏன்? அதன் காரணத்தைத் தேடி நான் நீண்ட நேரம் சிந்தித்தேன்; ஆனால் எந்த காரணமும் புரியவில்லை.
