वृद्धा नोपासिताश्वैव हित॑ वाक््यं न ते श्रुतम् तुमने बृहस्पति और शुक्राचार्यके नीतिसम्बन्धी उपदेशको नहीं सुना है, बड़े-बूढ़ोंकी उपासना नहीं की है और उनके हितकर वचन भी नहीं सुने हैं ।। लोभेनातिबलेन त्वं तृष्णया च वशीकृत:
vṛddhā nopāsitāś caiva hitaṃ vākyaṃ na te śrutam | tvaṃ na bṛhaspati-śukrācāryayoḥ nīti-sambandhī upadeśaṃ śrutavān asi | lobhenātibalena tvaṃ tṛṣṇayā ca vaśīkṛtaḥ ||
நீ முதியோர்களைச் சேவிக்கவில்லை; அவர்களின் நன்மை தரும் சொல்லையும் கேளவில்லை. அளவுகடந்த பேராசையும் தாகமும் உன்னை அடக்கி ஆள, நீ அவற்றின் வசப்பட்டாய்.
