दग्धा: सहस्रशो दैत्या नादै: स्कन्दस्य चापरे | पताकयावधूताश्न हता: केचित् सुरद्विष:
Vaiśampāyana uvāca | dagdhāḥ sahasraśo daityā nādaiḥ skandasya cāpare | patākayā vadhūtāś ca hatāḥ kecit suradviṣaḥ ||
அந்த சக்தியாயுதத்தின் தீயில் ஆயிரக்கணக்கான தைத்யர்கள் எரிந்து சாம்பலானார்கள். சிலர் ஸ்கந்தனின் சிங்கநாதம் மட்டுமே கேட்டு உயிர் துறந்தனர்; சில தேவர்த்வேஷிகள் அவரது கொடியின் அசைவால் நடுங்கி வீழ்ந்தனர்.
