Vaiśampāyana uvāca | śṛṇu mātṛgaṇān rājan kumārānucarān imān | kīrtyamānān mayā vīra sapatnagaṇasūdanān ||
வைசம்பாயனர் கூறினார்—வீர அரசே! கேளுங்கள்; குமாரன் (ஸ்கந்தன்/கார்த்திகேயன்) உடன் செல்லும் இந்த மாத்ருகணங்களின் பெயர்களை நான் உரைக்கிறேன். நான் பாடி அறிவிப்பவர்கள் பகைவர் கூட்டத்தை அழிப்பவர்கள்.
