tasminneva tadā tīrthe sindhudvīpaḥ pratāpavān | devāpiś ca mahārāja brāhmaṇyaṁ prāptavān mahat ||
The verse presents tapas performed at a tīrtha as a dharmic discipline capable of transforming one’s spiritual standing—here expressed as attaining exalted brāhmaṇya—emphasizing inner purification and merit through austerity.
Vaiśaṃpāyana tells the king that at the same pilgrimage spot, the renowned Sindhudvīpa and Devāpi undertook austerities and thereby attained great brahminhood, adding to the tīrtha’s fame and sanctity.
