अवमुच्य किरीटं स केशान् समनुगृहा[ च । उदतिष्ठज्जरासंधो वेलातिग इवार्णव:,जरासंधने किरीट उतारकर केशोंको कसकर बाँध लिया। तत्पश्चात् वह युद्धके लिये उठकर खड़ा हो गया; मानो महासागर अपनी मर्यादा--तटवर्तिनी भूमिको लाँघ जानेको उद्यत हो गया हो
avamucya kirīṭaṃ sa keśān samanugṛhya ca | udatiṣṭhaj jarāsandho velātiga ivārṇavaḥ ||
ஜராசந்தன் தன் கிரீடத்தை அகற்றி, தலைமுடியை இறுக்கமாகக் கட்டினான். பின்னர் போருக்கென்று எழுந்து நின்றான்—கரையோர எல்லையை மீறத் துடிக்கும் பெருங்கடல் போல.
