युधिष्ठिरस्य धनंजय-प्रति गर्हा
Yudhiṣṭhira’s Reproach to Dhanaṃjaya
गाधेन चाप्लवन्तक्ष निमज्ज्योन्मज्य चापरे | विजयकी अभिलाषा रखनेवाले कितने ही वीर जहाँ थोड़ा रक्तमय जल था वहाँ तैरकर और जहाँ अथाह था वहाँ गोते लगा-लगाकर उसके दूसरे पार पहुँच जाते थे ।।
gāḍhena cāplavantakṣa nimajjyomajyaca apare | vijayakī abhilāṣā rakhanevāle kitane hī vīr yatra thoḍā raktamaya jala thā tatra tairitvā yatra athāha thā tatra gote lāga-lāgakara tasya dvitīya pāraṃ prāpnuvanti sma || te tu lohitadigdhāḍyā raktavarmāyudhāmbarāḥ ||
சஞ்சயன் கூறினான்—வெற்றியின் ஆசையால் உந்தப்பட்ட பல வீரர்கள், இரத்தம் கலந்த நீர் எங்கு ஆழம் குறைந்ததோ அங்கு நீந்தி, எங்கு அது ஆழமும் அளவிலாததுமாயிருந்ததோ அங்கு மீண்டும் மீண்டும் மூழ்கி மேலெழுந்து, இறுதியில் அக்கரையை அடைந்தனர். அவர்கள் இரத்தத்தில் தோய்ந்திருந்தனர்; அவர்களின் கவசம், ஆயுதம், ஆடைகள் அனைத்தும் செம்மையாக மாறின—போரின் கொடுமையான விலையை வெளிப்படுத்தும் காட்சி அது.
