एतदू विस्तरशो युद्ध प्रब्रूहि कुशलो हासि । न हि तृप्यामि वीराणां शृण्वानो विक्रमान् रणे,सूत! तुम युद्धसम्बन्धी इस समाचारका विस्तार-पूर्वक वर्णन करो, क्योंकि इस कार्यमें कुशल हो। रणभूमिमें वीरोंके पराक्रमका वर्णन सुनकर मुझे तृप्ति नहीं हो रही है
etad ū vistaraso yuddhaṁ prabrūhi kuśalo hāsi | na hi tṛpyāmi vīrāṇāṁ śṛṇvāno vikramān raṇe, sūta |
சஞ்சயா, இந்தப் போரின் செய்தியை விரிவாகச் சொல்; நீ விவரிப்பதில் திறமை உடையவன். ஓ சூதா, போர்க்களத்தில் வீரர்களின் பராக்கிரமங்களை கேட்டுக் கொண்டிருந்தாலும் என் மனம் திருப்தி அடைவதில்லை।
