शल्य उवाच वरुणं को<म्भसा हन्यादिन्धनेन च पावकम् | को वानिलं निगृह्नीयात् पिबेद् वा को महार्णवम्
śalya uvāca varuṇaṃ ko 'mbhasā hanyād indhanena ca pāvakam | ko vānilaṃ nigṛhnīyāt pibed vā ko mahārṇavam ||
சல்யன் கூறினான்—கர்ணா! நீரால் வருணனை யார் வீழ்த்த முடியும்? எரிபொருளால் அக்னியை யார் அணைக்க முடியும்? காற்றை யார் கட்டுப்படுத்த முடியும்? அல்லது பேர்கடலை யார் குடித்துவிட முடியும்?
