Adhyāya 41 — Kṛṣṇa’s Battlefield Briefing and the Renewal of the Great Engagement
astrāṇi paśyādya mamottamāni brāhmāṇi divyānyatha mānuṣāṇi
The verse contrasts divine, mantra-empowered weapons with merely human ones, implicitly raising the ethical issue that greater power demands greater restraint; in dharma-yuddha, the use of extraordinary force is not merely a matter of capability but of rightful, proportionate application.
Sañjaya, narrating events to Dhṛtarāṣṭra, reports a warrior’s declaration of readiness to display and employ superior weapons—both sacred celestial astras and ordinary human weapons—signaling an escalation in the battle’s intensity.
