न कर्णो3 भ्यधिक सर्त्वत्तो न शड़्के त्वां च पार्थिव । न हि मद्रेश्वरो राजा कुर्याद् यदनृतं भवेत्
na karṇo 'bhyadhikaḥ sattvato na śaṅke tvāṃ ca pārthiva | na hi madreśvaro rājā kuryād yad anṛtaṃ bhavet ||
சஞ்சயன் கூறினான்—ஓ அரசே, உண்மையான வீரத்தில் கர்ணன் அவனைவிட மேலானவன் என்று நான் எண்ணவில்லை; மேலும் உம்மைப்பற்றி எனக்கு எந்தச் சந்தேகமும் இல்லை. மத்ர நாட்டின் அதிபதி அரசன் சல்யன், பொய்யாகும் செயலைவோ தன் சத்தியப் பிரமாணத்துக்கு விரோதமான செயலைவோ ஒருபோதும் செய்யமாட்டான்.
